The Marriage Ministry within the TETEM Church focuses on providing adequate spiritual support and counselling resources for married couples within the TETEM church community, aimed to equip them with biblical principles and practices to ensure that marriages their interest in marriage union is successful, reflecting God’s design for family life.

This may involve a practical approach such as marriage counseling, marriage enrichment programs, and pastoral guidance. The ministry emphasizes God’s design for marriage as a union of two individuals (not same sex) becoming one, a spiritual and physical unity.  We recognize the importance of building God-centered homes that reflect the love, commitment, and values of Christ.

Biblical Foundation

The Bible provides a rich foundation for understanding the significance of marriage and the role it plays in God’s plan. In Genesis 2:24, we read, “That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.” This passage highlights the unity, intimacy, and commitment that characterize a God-ordained marriage.

Importance of Marriage in God’s Creation

Marriage is essential to God’s creation, serving as the foundation for:

1. Family and community: Marriage provides a stable environment for raising children and building strong, healthy communities (Psalm 127:3-5).
2. Companionship and support: Marriage offers a lifelong partnership, providing emotional, physical, and spiritual support (Genesis 2:18).
3. Reflection of God’s love: Marriage is a symbol of God’s love for His people, demonstrating the depth of His commitment and devotion (Hosea 3:1, Ephesians 5:25-33).

Objectives for Marriage Ministry

1. Strengthen Marriages: Provide support, guidance, and resources to help couples build strong, God-centered marriages.
2. Nurture Spiritual Growth: Encourage couples to deepen their faith and relationship with God, fostering spiritual growth and maturity.
3. Equip Couples for Success: Offer premarital counseling, marriage enrichment programs, and conflict resolution strategies to equip couples for a lifelong commitment.

Achieving our objectives:

1. Premarital Preparation: Develop and offer comprehensive premarital counseling programs to prepare couples for marriage.
2. Marriage Enrichment: Organize regular marriage enrichment events, workshops, and retreats to foster communication, intimacy, and conflict resolution skills.
3. Mentorship and Support: Establish a mentorship program, pairing experienced couples with younger couples, to provide guidance and support.
4. Community Outreach: Engage in community outreach initiatives, promoting the importance of God-centered marriages and providing resources to support families.
5. Resource Development: Create and distribute resources (e.g., books, radio talk-show etc.) focused on building strong, God-centered marriages.

A God-centered home, built on the principles of marriage, offers numerous benefits, including:

1. Spiritual growth: A Christ-centered marriage fosters spiritual growth, encouraging couples to deepen their faith and relationship with God (Ephesians 5:22-33).

Our Role in the Marriage Ministry:
